I originally composed Texas Prospectus as a trio for myself (trumpet) and my dear friends Aric Kline (trumpet) and Hiram Rodriguez (trombone) to play together at UCLA. The piece is an homage to our shared home, Texas, and our love for brass music. The new, five-movement trumpet+horn+trombone incarnation of Texas Prospectus is a wild ride, filled with bluesy riffs, odd time signatures, fanfares, chorales, and a powerful finale.
