Program Note
Ostinato originally began as an idea for brass quintet, but as the name suggests, the idea just kept going, growing into an orchestral piece. Ostinato for Symphony Orchestra is an exciting, fast-paced work built around the idea of repetition of musical material and compounding that material in the ensemble texture. This repetition and sequencing of ideas lead to complex harmonies and rhythms surrounding a stable yet powerful opening melody.
